FAQs
Why cash-based PT vs. standard practice, billing through insurance?
There are many answers to this questions but I will stick to these:
There are research backed benefits to cash-based practice including higher compliance rates and improved patient satisfaction of care.
Productivity standards are HIGH in insurance-based practices in order for the practice and the PT to make money. This pushes the idea of quantity over quality, where you become one of a couple of patients that a PT will see in an hour slot.
What can I expect during a session?
Every session will be 1:1, patient and PT. The initial session will be more hands-on, as the PT will perform various tests/measures to assess current function and establish a program specific to your needs. The remaining sessions will be exercise dominant, but may include manual therapy as well, depending on the root issue.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No - through direct access laws in VA, PTs are able to treat clients without a referral
Do I travel to you or will you travel to me?
All initial evaluations will be performed on site to ensure access to necessary equipment. Remaining visits booked can either be in person (preferred), virtual, or a mix of both.
What are the benefits of seeing a PT while pregnant or postpartum?
Our bodies change immensely as we carry and deliver babies including: hormones, weight, posture, cardiorespiratory fitness, etc. It is so important to learn safe and effective ways to stay active during pregnancy. Postpartum brings different challenges depending on labor/delivery intensity. Moms are often sent home with minimal education and/or support for pain management and safe movement. Seeing a PT who specializes in postpartum care can be so helpful to decrease pain, improve mobility, and begin exercising in a safe manner.
